Trailblazing the Security+: My Study Plan for the Exam

Learn about my plans to study for the CompTIA Security+ exam!

Hey everyone! 👋 Just wanted to share a quick update on my journey. I already have an A+ certification and have recently leveraged that to get a sweet role in IT. Next up on the list for me is the Security+.

Motivation:

Why Security+? Well, besides wanting to be a cyber warrior 😎, it’s practically a golden ticket for various roles, especially in government and intelligence. Who knows, maybe a future gig with the NSA?

Study Materials:

Being budget-conscious, I plan on using free practice tests on Exam Compass. For a deeper understanding, Professor Messer’s YouTube videos should be what I need, even if it’s an exam cycle out of date. Don’t forget to check the exam objectives to really make sure that you are hitting every topic. In addition to online resources, I’m thinking of adding a practice question app to my routine. Perfect for killing time on the train or bus—turning time wasted into time well spent.

Study Schedule:

Navigating through a new work schedule has got me a little preoccupied as of right now. I’m starting with a modest goal—studying for an hour twice a week. It’s a small step, but hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Hopefully I can pick up the pace once I find my rhythm.

Tips for Others:

No groundbreaking tips yet, but I’ll definitely share as I gather more insights. If my A+ exam journey is any indication, practice tests seem to be a reliable ally.

That’s it for now! Excited to see where this Security+ journey takes me. If you’re on a similar path, best of luck to you! Hopefully in a few months I will already have an exam date picked out and a few more insights to share.
